THE PASSION FOR PIZZA
For Marc (AKA Marco) DeRusso, food is a family affair. When he was 16 years old, he started helping out in his family’s New York restaurant. By 19, he was in the kitchen cooking. At 28, he took what his family had taught him, seasoned it with his own style and in 1999, he opened the doors of Bourbon Street Grill in upstate New York.
After a decade, Marc and his wife Amy, entrusted the management of Bourbon Street to their team and headed to Florida. The winter weather was considerably better, but the Italian food scene wasn’t what they hoped for. So, they opened Marco’s Pizzeria in 2009, which is now being renamed DeRusso’s.
They have a simple recipe for success: fresh is best. Fresh bread baked daily. Fresh garlic knots to order.* Fresh cut toppings every single day. Fresh, fresh, fresh. No compromises on quality. Ever. That commitment helped Marc and his son Christian build a loyal following. After losing Christian in 2013, the DeRussos honor his memory by keeping all his favorites on their menu.
DeRusso’s is the new name, but the owners, menu and service that made Marco’s a local favorite for almost 9 years is still exactly the same—unique, fresh and authentic.
*We apologize in advance for the irresistibility of the knots.
